My Folks

Dad so proud of his restored 1950 International jazzed up with a touch of red...this year tractor was all gray but Dad liked a bit of excitement...I agree it looks pretty niceMom fishing the Flambeau is one of my favorite pictures of her. She and Dad sure did love that river...so many fond memories
Having an indifferent day today, I feel the need to draw close to my parents...even tho Dad is no longer on This earth, and no matter how old I get, I still miss him terribly and wish I could sit and chat today. You might say I will always be one of Daddy's little girls. Competition with 5 sisters never made that a challenge because he was as patient with one as the other. I Thank God that Mom is Always here for me too as she always has been all my long life.
So, I share two of my favorite pictures of them just a few years back. Enjoy and

Rest and Relax

A Golden November Moon through the clouds
How I wish this was more clear, but taken at a distance of a Red and Gray Squirrels snacking with a Partridge who is behind the Gray
The view out my cabin window of the creek below the hill...
Yellow Birch nightshot
Whitebirch nightshot
Chatty little Red Squirrel....
How we hate to leave
Logs look good at night but need to be resealed inside and out
Nightshots are so reflective...gotta love it
I cannot believe I'm saying this but, I am So ready to strap on the snowshoes...

My love and I just got back from a couple of much needed days at the cabin...away from phones, TV, the noises of daily life...and back to the peace and quiet of the woods around us. The logs of the cabin insulate so well that we hear nothing if the windows are closed...but open them and we hear the squirrels and bluejays chattering, the partridge drumming, the turkeys scurrying through the dry fallen leaves, the deer eating an apple, the doves cooing, and the creek gently tumbling over the rocks. Nothing else, just the life of the woods. To me, nothing is more relaxing. Rarely do I watch and listen to the wildlife without taking a nap and hearing a deer bolt away because of my snoring. It was a particularly calm and beautiful, but cool couple of days.
The cribbage games were competitive and the plans we are making for changes at the cabin are starting to reach the paper-scratching stage. I took time to write in my journal and was shocked to see it had not been done for over 2 years. That was dreadful to think our lives have been so busy and hectic that we have not taken our usual R & R more often...that will change.
Hope you enjoy the journey of a few pictures I captured, just for fun, most of which are night shots, experimenting again so excuse the clarity or lack of it.

We had a houseful of little 'trick-or-treaters' last night, 4 of our babygrands. They had come for a visit but had to return earlier today, so we tricked and treated our neighbor and their GGrandma O on Halloween Eve. They had a blast dancing around and singing the whole time. GGrandma was so happy to see them and to have them sweep her hardwood floor with their sliding knees and bodies. Enjoy the pictures of our two little Ironmen , Mario, and Benji the Garden Knome.
God Bless Your Evening with lots of Halloween Fun...

TeddyBearLove

This little teddy bear 'bearing' the same name, Teddy Bear, has been a part of our family for 27 years. I made him for my son, Andy, for his first Christmas, at which time, he also wore a velvet bow around his neck. He since, has been loved and hugged by many children and their parents. In the past 6 years, he has been loved by Andy's 3 sons, who spend lots of time at Grandma's house.
Today, however, he sits quietly in the children's library and reads to his friends of the forest.
Have a Blessed Day and wonderful, memory-filled weekend.

FungusAmongus

There is fungus amongst us by the creek resembling Crowded ParchmentsSnow covered
Just a cool picture
These ladder all the way to the top of this dead wood and are beautiful to see having a buff underside, perhaps from the polypore family of 'shrooms'
A lone fern defying the cold weather
We have quite a cluster of mushrooms growing on the dead trees by the creekside...it was a nice surprise on my walk to find something besides the early snows in the woods...
Have a Blessed Day Til our next visit...
