Do you remember this? It's last spring's garden. Take note of the 8 ft. poles. Now you see them and ..............
Now, you barely see their tops. Yeppers, folks, that's how much snow is in our yard. It's pushed as high as the tractor plow can push it. There are about 5 rows of it surrounding our place.
It'll be quite some time before we can plant anything, but it doesn't deter us from enjoying the outdoors. There's a heat wave going on, don't cha' know. This is the first break we've had from the miserable arctic winds and temperatures, so the air felt wonderful today at 30-something.
While the Grandloves and their dad played, I snapped a few memories. There were holes to dig, and
rides to take, (how I wish I were small enough to ride the pull-behind sled)., and
a-waaay they go!
Did you know you can dig to China to watch the Olympics, it's true~so they say.
Did you also know you can make a volcano
out of snow? Really!!!
Now where'd he go? Click the photo and you may just see him...
This is also the time of year that my workaholic loves to go to the woods and cut and pull out trees for firewood. He's been working the past couple winters getting trees out of the swamps and lowlands, all of which blew down from a huge wind storm that dropped over a hundred mature live trees. Rather than let them rot, they are harvested for firewood. Like he says, "I'm keeping your butt warm," and he is. Gotta love him.
Even the Bluejays are surviving our 'more harsh than usual' weather. They actually seem to thrive in it year round.
Of course, the free hand-outs they get all winter makes them fat and sassier.
Yes, it's true. It's snowing again....
So it goes in our northwoods which we love.
Alrighty then...
Go play in the snow if you have some.
The Lord's promised spring so I'll remain impatiently patient. (is that possible?)

I have a picture of an old fireplace mantel that says " He Who Cuts His Own Wood is Twice Warmed". Thought it was rather appropriate!
Hang in there. We only have 3 more months. The days are starting to get longer. I could have made a heck of a snow fort with those piles. Glad the grandkids are still excited about winter.
Glad if you live where it is sooo cold you have someone to warm your butt. The sun warmed mine today. Well through my clothes that is. hee hee
Great goodness.....in our area, this would shut everything down. We had a small amount of ice this past week and one would have thought that it was 8 feet of snow. I would love to have some snow, but maybe just a foot or so... Hope hubby cuts plenty of trees in order to keep your buns warm...Be sure to post pictures later in the year of the upcoming garden...
Funny how a mere 10* or 15* feels like a heat wave compared to the weather we've been having. Nice that your family got to go out and enjoy it.
Hey, I have two words - HOLY COW - that is a heck of a lot of snow.
In 1978 I remember Chicago like that - it took til May to melt everywhere. That bottom part turns to ice.
You don't let them stop you - you go out and have snow fun. I have never been on a snow mobiles!
Well whether your land has snow or gardens - it is beautiful!

Always enjoy a visit to the North Wood. I do admire you guys, and the ability to work thru the problems that winter brings. I don't doubt Bill gets a kick out of some work, I know without a doubt he hasn't always had a 'Lil Blue' with a three point hitch and a loader. He parobably hasn't always had a great reliable chain saw even, it is good that being frugal that folks can have some assets that aid in the problems youface.
Good pictures and you guys make a good grandpa and Grandma... they will remember this forever.
Love ya!
Hi there, how lovely to get a glimpse of your snow-filled land. Wow! those first two pics really show the difference.
What a love of fun there is to be had in the snow ... I agree, I'd love to be in the back of the pull-sled too - yay :D) A beautifully happy post, many thanks!
I'd never seen a little pull behind sled before. That's neat.
Whew! That is so much snow!
You're right--you have to get out and enjoy winter because otherwise you'd go NUTS waiting for spring!
I think you get a blog award for living with the most snow....wow!!!!! It is good to see you and your family out and enjoying it and not whining about it.....:)
