~Buttercup~

Meet Buttercup!  Buttercup is Bill's new heart-throb.
She has been keeping him pretty busy.  Greg is her sidekick and says to Bill, " Treat her gentle, she starts hard.  Just pump the he** outa her and she'll run like a dream."
The past couple of days, she has hauled a drag, 80 gallons of diesel, and a couple tons of organic fertilizer ( chicken poo ), a fertilizer spreader and her faithful driver, Bill.
Together, they have been getting the fields ready for next years potato crops.  Greg, the organic potato entrepreneur, and our boss man, has leased another 100 some acres to work.  The little fields, thankfully, are close to home.  Bill's happy for something to do with his retired time.
He's unloaded plenty of ton loads with a fork lift but not off a tractor, so he says it was a little tricky at first.  I guess Greg thought his few pounds would counter-balance the weight, but that's what 4-wheel drive is for.....it was Bill's joke of the day.

Even the boss man was surprised as to how heavy chicken poo is, all compressed into 40, 50lb. bags, tightly wrapped.  Greg and his daughter quickly added a few more bags to the flatbed of ol' Buttercup, before hauling the fertilizer to the next field.  I hope the cover-crop seed arrives before the snow flies or it won't be planted.  It will grow under snow but likes warmth to germinate.
Needless to say, a few days with Bill at the cabin,?..............
never happened.  It must have been a God-send, tho., as my head is 'still' not right.  GeeeezGollyAnyway!  I guess it's true- it does take quite awhile for the brain to settle inside this thick skull~

Until next time~~~~~~~
From Me to You, Thanks for Stopping

I knew Bill couldn't live the sedentary life of a 'retired genteel man'. Gotta be on a 'tractor' or something. It is so different than going 'in' to work and the time clock.

This retired life can be fun too. So thou are replaced by a yellow thing. It won't last long, it is just a fling. LOL
I was just thinking of you guys. We were just looking at the red 50th "O" anniversary blanket. The picture jumped up on the screen saver, that one seldom does, but I get to go over the names when it does.
Hope your 'head' finds a nice port from the storm, and Bill can take you to the cabin for that 'HOT CHOCOLATE"

Love Sherry & Jack

Love the truck and the idea of home grown potatoes. I hope they get their start before snow! Aaaand, sure hope you're feeling on the mend soon too. I should tell you this story of an older couple I've known forever. They were sitting leisurely swinging on one of those log swings by their pool up in the Northeast one summer day, when all of a sudden, SOMEthin' broke and the two of them tumbled down...summersalt style. 1 and a half gainer or something like that as he was telling it. They landed on their bums in a heap....hysterically laughing once the shock had worn off. He finally had the presence of mind to ask? "You OK?" To which she answered: "I THINK so." And they broke out laughing all over again. I THINK they call those "senior moments" BUT, I think your story has theirs beat. Also, they don't have kids so might be easier by a long shot to recover as easily as they did. None of the same wear and tear possibly. ~God Bless you both!~

I think that giving that family a compliment was awesome. And he cried. That must have meant the world to him.

Great job.
