Believe It or Not?

It was such a hot, sultry day, and we needed to cool off.   We decided to do just that at a nearby lake that was calling our names.
As Bill and I waded chest high in a ' warm ' spring-fed lake while the GrandGirls and Guys and their Dads  were splashing a distance from us, we shared stories of this water and how we both learned to swim jumping off the same raft in the over-our-heads, water.

I wasn't doing anything to attract attention.....or was I?
I was waving my hands back and forth in the water as we visited, when I felt weight against my arm enough to make me glance down.  I was not startled, thinking it was one of the kids playing a trick on me, so imagine my surprise when I saw a fish~~~a nice  bass brushed against the outside of my left arm, then circled around it going between my downward, outstretched arm and my body,  then leaving the direction he had been coming from...

It was big, heavy and had every intention of having my fingers for lunch.  You see, I had painted my fingernails red, white and blue to celebrate the day with the Grands.  That fish must have thought my fingers were fishing lures, like the red and white striped spinner.

Just imagine if I had caught him with my bare hands.  Now That would really have been something...soooo

Is this just a ' fish story ' of exaggeration?
Or, the ' truth?'

It's the ' TRUTH '
What a very cool experience.  I do wish I could have caught him. I would have practiced C-P-R (catch-photograph-release)
What excitement!!!

Thanks for stopping by and sharing my rare experience.

I love the woods, but lakes are a different story. I would have messed myself with fear!! You are one brave gal!! I love to photograph lakes, or be in the pontoon on the lake, but swimming NO. I only go in water that is contained with concrete and painted aqua blue. I need to see what's around me. Again you are very brave!!!

Great story and bass are not as timid as other fish. The good news is that a largemouth bass doesn't have teeth like a gar or a pike. Well done on this post.

Hi Dar, I've heard Fish Stories and I've heard really far-out Fish Stories... This one beats the cake!!!!!! You should have picked it up ---and taken that photo.... Who needs a fishing line these days??? Just get in the water with red, white and blue fingernails....

Glad your toenails weren't painted that color --or he would have nipped at your toes.... ha ha

Hugs,
Betsy

Dar: What a great story. We release almost all our bass but keep crappie, perch, bluegill and walleye. Mighty fine eating. I'm glad you had a great July 4TH.

Oh now this is the best fish story I've heard and I believe you. What a story that could have been had you caught it with your bare hands.

Dar
Just checked out this amazing story and have to say this bass had some shark inbreed in it. Just goes to show why we use all those colored lures. Thanks for sharing

Wow, I have never had that experience. But lately I would not have released a fish Had I caught one. Been awhile since I had a good fresh fish.

Glad you and Bill are able to enjoy the water and cool off. Neat you guys learned to swim in the same place.

Have a great weekend and BE GOOD!
