July Sunrise

As Bill and I had our coffee this morning, the sun rose to tell us what the day ahead would be like. What a beauty. The forecast says sunny, mid-80's, breezy gorgeous day to play outside. We are going to the lake this afternoon to spend some time with our son and his family and Bill's brother and wife who are all camping at the same campground west of us. Maybe we will get a chance to wet a line.
Check out the bold color happening in my planter. This is the second burst of blooms coming from my Snapdragons. They just pop!
The hollyhocks by the barn are starting to show off. At one time, all of these were yellow. I'm always amazed when they revert back to their mother color of white. The rose colored ones were thrown there last fall by my grandson wanting to surprise me. I love it. He got the seeds from old seed that lay in the bottom of my seedbox. Soooooo...
Now I call this rose colored bloom Sy's Surprise Hollyhock.
See what I mean? This was yellow when planted but has reverted.
I'm not sure where this one came from or how it got it's color, but I rather like it peeking from behind the yellow ones trying to crowd her out.

Enough of my chit-chat about barn bloomers. I have already made potato salad for the picnic but now I need to make brownies before the house heats up with sunshine.

Have a gorgeous day.
So it goes at my little piece of heaven.
Thanks for stopping by.

There are days like today that I wished I lived way far away from everybody with a big hunk of land and hollyhocks growing by the barn!

I love those snapdragons! My grandfather used to bring the plant indoors in the fall, and it would bloom away in the house.
You asked about whether the virgin's bower would grow for you - well, I looked in my Audobon, and that says it grows from Manitoba to Nova Scotia, and south to Georgia and Kansas, so I would think you could grow it, maybe somewhere protected. The Latin name is Clematis virginiana. If you can't find it near you, I can see about drying some seed, and sending it to you, if you like.

After your comment about the water hemlock, I looked that one up, and it grows southern Ontario, so I am not likely to see it around here. It is possible, especially with global warming. Not that I am going to eat either of them...

Good morning, our morning starts much later than yours, been a long time since I saw a sunrise. But the coffee is still good at 9:30-10 hahahaha~
Love the Holly-hocks if nothing but their name. A rhyming name or a poem sounding name.
I love a picnic! we may have one soon.
Love from the country DAvy Crockett!

I love Holly Hocks, they always remind me of Mom. So how do you keep the deer from eating your holly hocks ~ they chewed mine all off when they were about a foot or two tall. Beautiful pics.
Sy is so thoughtful ~ I just love that kid.

Your 'barn bloomers' are beautiful, Dar. I only have a few dark pink hollyhocks.

We've had mostly overcast gray mornings lately, I need to see a colorful sunrise, yours was very nice, same color as your snapdragons!

Love all your flowers. I have tried to grow hollyhocks, cause they remind me so much of the home farm, but they always get buggy or die off and don't come back. Yours look so healthy and pretty.
