So, I'm getting impatient. This ol' gal just can't take the heat anymore. I'm not asking for winter to arrive. I'm just wanting cooler days. Yesterday, we had one but only if you stayed in the shade. The sun was a scorcher again. The storms cooled the air 'some', but the humidity was still hanging in the air. Late in the evening it finally started to cool off. Trying to enjoy it, I was surrounded by mosquitoes the size of quarters. I sprayed myself down, refusing to be defeated. I'm normally quite content. Something in the air is making me cranky. Time for a boat ride, like a glide down the river in Dad's riverboat.
This is just the 'tip' of another story that I have been promising my followers for a yr. now. I have all the pictures ready to tell you about how this riverboat was built, just not the heart yet.
I'm also very ready for a climb up this ladder again. At it's top is a very special place that takes me to another home away from home. I hear another story coming on, but not yet.

When I first saw the pic, if anyone else had posted it, I would of thought them crazy. I can see with all the work that you do during the summer why you are wishing for winter. Probably the only time that you get to rest and set your feet up for a few minutes. I swear you are like the energizer bunny with all you do!
The water is beautiful. Came by from Stewart Mackinder's blog only because you said something about sweet peas being your favorite! I love them, like strawberries they grow in nearly each of my gardens. When I spoke at a garden club earlier this year, one person asked what my favorite thing to grow was and without hesitation - sweet peas! I don't think she was impressed, I think she wanted me to say something exotic. Hey sorry to blather on but your comment about sweet peas just caught my eye and just wanted to say hi.

Hi Girlie, ME TOO!!! I think that the older I get, the LESS I can 'take' this horrible heat... I just find myself staying inside more.

Golly the older I get the less I can take the cold and snow of winter....but it has been so humid and today in the garden I was the on menu...lousy skeetters
Oh those mosquitoes are horrible this year! It was a little cooler today and the humidity didn't seem quite as bad as it's been. Some nice cool weather would be a welcomed sight though.
Dar, I swear I keep telling you to get some Avon Skin-So-Soft. The gnats and skeeters don't like it at all and you will find some releif from them. AND ... does that ladder lead to the rooftop where you sunbathe naked? Or did you give that up now that you're OLD? I bet your readers can tell I'm your bratty YOUNGER sister! ROFL Love ya!
Dar - the pictures are absolutely great! Just traveled from Orlando, FL yesterday and reached home after 12 hours on the road in 104 degree heat. You read it right...104! Thank God for Air-con in the vehicle. This is what the old-timers called "dog-days" I think. Too hot for the dog to do anything but lay around on the porch! Ha.
I don't like the cold and can't take the heat anymore so I barricade my self around the clock. Yesterday was horrible. I love your pictures.
