We wait. We wait for blue skies and 20 ft. sunflowers by the barn. We wait. Meanwhile...take a summer country ride with me. I'm sure Mel can identify every one of these charming barns as we ride.
Each one of these barns are within 10 miles of my home.
I love this old log barn and will stop someday and ask for a tour of her bones.
Each barn has it's own charm and purpose.
It's sadly apparent, which ones are no longer used for it's original purpose, but still functional.
A hint, this one is still farmed daily, and well kept...I once harvested arms full of grapevine for wreaths from the farm above.
Only one of these barns is not in my immediate neighborhood, but it isn't the one above.
This one is well known, as is the one below.
OK, so this is not a barn, but I thought you'd like to see an original log home from centuries ago. It's also a landmark...Mel drives by it all the time.
As much as what I love old barns, there's a real kinship with my very own barn. It has had a facelift since this last picture but is need of a deep cleaning. The loft holds lumber for projects, outdoor Christmas decor, summer patio furnishings, antiques in need of some love, tires, toys, oh my...the lower level is full of ' big boy toys ' like 4-wheelers, snowmobiles, carts, storage cabinets, etc, and no hope of ever being used as an intended animal housing again.
We will continue to keep her serviceable, but for now....
I'm dreaming again of my green lawn that's still under 3 ft. of snow and that's with the melt down that's been going on.
Have a great week everyone.
God's so good.

Like the poet said about fences... Something there is about a BARN. As we travel, I guess the most photographed objects are Barns. WHY? I guess we know they serve a very useful purpose and have since there was a domesticated farm animal.
Love the barns, especially the one of logs. How unique.
anyway thanks for the tour and love felt in the post....
From our home to yours..LOVE
Living in America's Dairyland, I love old barns. Thanks for the lovely post and photos!
I just love old barns. Don't have many here in southern California. I used to love photographing them up in northern California when my late husband and I used to vacation up there.
I love my barn too.
Oh I have a thing for old barns too and the history I wish more were used. All barns around here are surrounded by snow too:) B
I am partial to the falling-down kind of barn.
Did you know I am a BARN LOVER? No kidding. In fact there is a blog and they used to have a meme called Barn Charm. Even though I don't see many barns I still played along.
Love, sandie
Outstanding photo of the sunflower and barn!! I love old barns! You are so right on...each one has it's own personality and story to tell...

thanks for a taste of home.
I love old barns and log cabins are my favorite. Thanks for the tour and I'm with you on needing to see the green. All of our snow has finally melted but we're not seeing green. Just brown mud!
I'm so glad you stopped in today. You sound like a very musical family! I've always thought the dulcimer was so beautiful and exotic!
I'm a barn lover too. I do worry sometimes that they'll disappear completely from the landscape. Thanks for sharing these wonderful barns and buildings with us.
You have your own barn!!!!!!! You lucky duck. And it is a cute one too. I also love barns....♥
Love the barns! We're in the process of building new outbuildings for our critters before the old ones crumble to the ground. Would love a "real" barn. sigh
I love old barns. We have several Amish communities around here and I just love their barns. I even love the ones that look like they are falling down. Just so much character. I do watercolors and barns are my #1 thing to paint.
I am your newest follower.
