Apple Dumpling Delight

Mercy, what a treat!  I know my version doesn't look as appealing as the dumpling pictured in the magazine, but mine was so much easier to make, bake and eat, and the pleasure was all mine/ours!

The magazine recipe made the crust from scratch.  I didn't have the time, so I used the cheater crust, you know, the one out of the fridge dept. in the grocery store., right by the Grands biscuits.
The filling was easy as pie.  Simply peel and core an apple.  I used a Braburn but any crisp late apple will due.

Next I added a mere tsp. each of  brown sugar  and butter in the core cavity, sprinkled the top of the apple with cinnamon after placing in the center of a square of pie crust large enough to cover the apple, approximately an 8 inch square.
Simple enough.

Next step is to fold the crust up and around the apple, pinching the seams to seal in the goodness.

Place the Apple Dumplings on a cookie sheet so they are not touching one another.

Brush with milk or melted butter to enhance browning. ( a step I accidentally forgot to do.  The dumpling baked fine but was not all browned and beautiful like it should have been. )

Bake 40-50 min. in a 350-375 degree oven, depending on how your oven bakes,  on the center rack.

Cool
Add a huge dollop of whipped cream
Drizzle with Caramel Sauce., either your own home made or the delicious stuff out of the Smucker's Topping squeeze bottle like I did.

Mercy Me, we have been treated well!
Not one calorie was neglected during the consumption of this delicacy!   Try it, You'll like it!

What a shame! All that talent and creativeness from one person and I got left out. IT'S NO FAIR! Dar, that treat looks soooooo yummy and good for the tummy. No wonder they say, "An apple a day keeps the mouth watering!"
