Though we have been fortunate to have unseasonably warm weather all fall and early winter, I still have not strung my outdoor lights, nor have I done any decorating....I'm not sure why? but I always manage to wait for the most bone-chilling, hand-freezing day. It must feel like it's ' time ' then.
I did, however, begin to gather.
I've cut balsam, pine and cedar boughs, winterberries and pine cones.
The kids went home with swags for their doors and their decks.
The scents of Christmas linger in the air as I cut, wrap wire, and hang things ' just right.'
My primitive workshop is all I mustered for the few items I would be making this season, but how I love it. The Christmas carols sound in the background, they're sung as I attempt to do my share of the ' elf ' duties.
Soon, the doors will be dressed at my house too,
but for now,
the ' cheer ' is sent over the rivers and through the woods
to the grown ' loves ' of this shop.
Two by two,
One for me and one for you.
Enjoy the scents of the season.
Now, I have a few lights to string, wreaths, garland and swags to make.
There are mittens, socks and scarves to finish knitting for the ( shhhh), Grandloves, on my list, and Christmas cakes to bake.
A tree, take Mom to pick out the perfect Christmas trees.
Make fudge and cookies and cocoa and slush.
Yarn, I need more yarn.
I really do have to run.
Thanks again, to all of my faithful friends, for taking a second out of your day to stop in to say 'hi' and extend your warm hearts.
God Bless Each and Everyone of You
as you prepare for the Coming of God's Son
and
BlessYourHearts

I love these! I am envious that you have so many treasures right at your fingertips and have the talent to show them at their best! Wish we were closer so I could hire you to make some for me! :)
LOVE your elfin' I believe I will have to go out on this cold day and 'harvest' some branches too.
'love & hugs from afar'
The most significant thing in all this good stuff hit me special. Not the smell, that I love so dearly this time of the year. And the work being done and too be done is great. but:
"To take mom to find the perfect Christmas trees".
Yousaid that last year, has it been that long? WOW.
Love from down here. Do it before the FREEZING weather. NOW!!!
LOL
Sherry & Jack in Florida, 81 degrees!
Those look beautiful and I'll bet they smell great. I'm not decorating this year because my husband passed away in June and I just don't feel like celebrating Christmas. He and I would have put up the lights this past weekend if he were still alive. Hope you send lots of photos once you get everything decorated.
Hugs,
Kay
Hi There, We are home from our trip. Hope you had a great Thanksgiving.
Love your 'natural' decorations.. I think they are always the best kind to have..
We haven't done any decorating either. My energy level (since my surgery in Oct.) is still not good. I may 'tone down' this year.
Hugs,
Bets
Love your decoration your home will smell so fresh and good with all the pretty decoration and your good cooking. Jean
Nothing brings back thoughts of Christmas more powerfully than the smell of evergreen and Christmas candles! Frances already has it starting to look like Christmas here too.
Thanks so much for your suggestion. I had to laugh cuz I just removed the silk ivy back in june for Brandons wedding! LOL I had loved it while it weas there but I had plans to remove it anyway. I had originally stenciled the ivy during 'his' second back surgery when he didn't wnat me to leave him alone in the bedroom (big baby)...drove me nuts just sitting there. So thats how the ivy came to be. Then he decided he wanted surround sound in the bedroom and had wires running all over, thats when the silk ivy came in as a cover up.
So long story short, the ivy brings back memories I no longer want in my face everyday.
If it weren't for the window he cracked I wouldn't be worried. But I don't want that reminder, ya know. There's a lot of things he's broken (besides us) that I can't afford to fix, so in comes the cover ups.
Thanks so much for your suggestion. I think I may have a roll of screen in the garage if I choose to go that route. I appreciate your suggestions!!
Have a great day!

My son and I just cut a bunch of stuff out of our woods and fields--I tied some of it up already, but then it got WINDY and TOO COLD. I'll have to weather the weather to finish my project!
I'm dragging on the decorating too. I am thinking about getting some fresh branches to decorate our fireplace with. I know yours will look and smell lovely. Have a great day, Sheila
