Dad's Perfect Day

Happy Father's Day, Dad! You are so missed! You, with your generous heart full of kindness and laughter.
One spring and summer, my Dad wanted to build what he called, his last riverboat, but this time, with his 9 sons and daughters. Each one of us had a part, as was anything done with Dad.
Late in the fall was finally the day of the Riverboat Launch. It was as calm as glass on the water.
Dad took the maiden voyage. On his return, he raised the homemade oar and announced, " She glides like a hot knife through butter. She's a beauty."
His pride beamed as a crowd of family watched in agreement, each getting a turn around the bend.
Though Dad spent a lot of his days in his Hover Round or with his cane, it never once deterred his determination to ' Giterdone.'
He loved life as much as he loved Mama beyond his final hour.
Seven months later, he joined the angels in heaven where I'm sure he's still loving the river, painting for us in the clouds, if we look closely, and reminding us constantly, that God is preparing us to see him again.
I cannot wait for that day.
We all miss you terribly Dad and ache to see you again.

Thanks, folks, for stopping.
I hope your Dad's have a wonderful Father's Day.

BlessYourHeart

Awww Dar, what a great entry. We discuss how you girls never failed to mention Dad while we were there. I love the narrative of Dad and the boat, but most of all that last shot of he & your mom, what a beautiful shot, says it all!
Great memories way up there in Wisconsin. Those will NEVER fade, I am sure!

Love from down in our tame country!

A lovely tribute to your dad. Since my dad was 60 when I was born, I remember him as a good dad, and also not expecting a baby girl at his and moms age. I had deep respect and love for my dad and remember him going out and hitching a team of horses to a wagon and going out to "pick up that corn that new fangled picker did not get.
