Missing Home Sweet Home

What a difficult day. Right about where the small black spot just under the larger one, in the north central part of this Wisconsin-shaped rock, is where we live.
At the moment this is being written, my heart is a long way from there. Yesterday morning I watched my son leave for a far away place from his home stomping grounds. He is about to embark on quite the adventure half way across the world.
Andy hopped a ride to China. He will be doing some technical computer programming and trouble-shooting computers the size of my daughters house pictured in my last post. We are so proud of him. He was a total wreck when he left. He has never flown before now and for his first flight to be an 18 hour one out of Chicago, direct, he was pretty nervous. If he is anything like his mother, he is going to love flying but hate the length of time being cooped up in one place. He is a long legged fella of 6'6", so I hope he stretches a few times.

Just got a call from his girlfriend, He is on solid ground again, Loved flying, and is looking forward to his next couple of weeks. I'm waiting for his call on Skype, a wonderful invention! Amen!

I was so jittery for him yesterday that I spent the day full of distractions. My girlfriend from the east coast Virginia, is home so we spent the morning strolling through some shops and having lunch together. We took a walk around the yard and checked on some of my wind-torn, rain-beaten flowers such as...
this golden Asian Lily...

the Red Beebalm,
another Asiatic Lily bud that will open to be Maroon...
a group of pink Phlox and what Mel and I call Bluebells...does anyone know the real name of these purple spiked beauties?
Monkshood, so named for the hood the blooms wear sheltering their flowers...these were from my Great Grandmothers garden way up north,
A couple of repeat blooming Knock-Out pink Roses playing peek-a-boo in the Ribbon Grass,
Giant Delphiniums , the last standing one. The rest of this bed is lying on the ground due to the heavy rains we had a couple nights ago...
Another storm lay overhead, so after supper, around 8 p.m. last night, Bill decides he wants help reseeding a food plot for the fall deer hunt, so we beat it down the road to the nearest strip of prepared land.
It takes 14 lbs. to seed an acre, so 7 1/4 lbs. is measured out for this field, as it is just over 1/2 an acre in size. The green spreader will be filled half full about 4-5 times to walk the field.
Bill drags the plowed field one more time to loosen the soil to receive the seed while...
I walk and spread the seed with the seeder...
Bill then drives over and over again with the 4-wheeler to pack the seed into the ground...
And then it rained...
So it went the past couple of days...

Have a great day and thank God for Everything
We are blessed

He said he never ventured much into the country, but rather worked daily and saw mostly hotel room or offices....he said it was very polluted...and he hated breathing their air..He just got back from England...didn't like him going there either...hey,we'er always moms....I fear another terrorist atttack...i knw you can't live like that..but he is my boy..and I love him and worry about him...SO
all I can do is keep in prayer
i asked my son to bring me back a small rock for my garden...no...he brings me tea
I think your flowers are beautiful..quite the selection like mine....the purple flowers I call Harebells..they are a wildflower...love 'em

It sounds like a lovely day. Love all the flowers. The asiatic lilies are my fav though. I have one bed dedicated to them. Mine are about done showing off for the summer though. I enjoyed them while they were here though. I would love some rain about now. It is so humid here!

Hope your son enjoys his trip. I agree Skype is the cat's meow. My granddaughter spent several months over seas last summer and had to miss her sister's high school graduation. we were all able to talk to and see Steph with Skype while celebrating at the party.

Yep, you have reason to be proud of the son and the rest of the family. I am glad he liked the flight. I love to fly, Sherry isn't crazy about it.

Flowers are beautiful, good shots.

But the best shot is the tractor and loader. I get jealous when I see it. My Yanmar don't compare. Oh well I don't get to use mine anyway. hahahaha!
Take care, sit back and enjoy being a proud, happy mother!

Hi Dar, Glad your son made it to China.... Now you can relax for awhile--until he flies back... That is a huge trip for a young man who has never flown before. He's getting a HUGE education visiting another country... He must be extremely smart --in order to do that job. I know you are proud of him.

But--we Mama's never quit worrying about our kids, do we???? They may be all grown up--but they are still our babies!!!!

Glad you got your field done before the rains came. Send some of your rain this way please...

Hugs,
Betsy

Just be happy for him and I know you are but you also worry. Just be grateful your son will be coming home. You are a busy beaver. Your flowers are gorgeous.

Those are Ladybells ... not bluebells. Had fun today with you visiting the greenhouse ~ and watching you squirm your way out of a speeding ticket. 2 funny!!

I can identify with your son. I love flying - but those long flights can really take a toll on one's physical body. I made the round-trip to Africa from 5 to 7 times a year the last ten years that I worked for our Missions Department. I loved the opportunity to travel and meet new people and of course enjoyed seeing my friends there on the ground. Hope he has a fun and productive trip and returns home to you safely.

Hi Dar. Nope, I didn't get the front loading washer and dry set. Like you said, too expensive. Plus I've heard a lot of bad about them. I've heard the washer leaks from the front loading door. The installer yesterday even told me that those big expensive ones do not last as long as the small, simple, basic ones like I bought. He said he just delivered a new washer to a lady who bought her big expensive one 2 years ago. He said because of all the electronic gadgets on them, they have more that can go out and break down.
