Pink, Purple, Green and Pie

God sure brings on the day! Look at what I woke up to at 5 this morning! I think God handed the paint brushes over to my Dad for me. God Bless Today!
Then he painted these beautiful lupines up and down Mom's driveway for her to enjoy as she walks for the mail down her 1/4 mile driveway each day.
A little of glitter never hurt anyone. The Mica boulder at the end of the drive (or the beginning, if you are just arriving at the farm), accentuates the stateliness of more lupines.
Their colors make me thirst for more. When the seedheads dry, I will have to see if Mom is sharing seeds. I know she is still sprinkling them in vacant spaces along the way, but just maybe.
The rainbow of color comes in all forms. Yesterday morning, it came in the colors of spring pie....like
Rhubarb-Strawberry- just click on the recipe to enlarge it for your own indulgent, tantalizing, taste-bud teasing samplings. I heard the 'cryer' out early yelling,
"I have Rhubarb, who wants rhubarb, come one, come all, come get your rhubarb!"
Sure looks pretty going into the easy, boxed, roll out and bake, pie crust. Oh, Yes, I do know how to make pie crust from scratch, a darned good one, but who had the extra time yesterday? not me.
Sprinkled with sugar and cinnamon on top, wedged and eaten ala'mode with rich and creamy vanilla ice cream....well, smack my lips and call me Ms. Piggy! Mmmm, mmm, it was so good!
While waiting for yesterdays pie to bake, it was 'thyme' for a Sesame Thyme Crusted Chicken, Spinach and Cucumber Wrap with melted cheddar and Vadalia Onion dressing, a healthy, filling lunch. Ain't life grand!
Try to find the blessings in Your Day while remembering to feed your soul.
BlessYourHeart

YOU JUST CAN'T SHUT UP CAN YOU? I am just being introduced to Rhubarb in my 70's. That was not a staple as I was growing up, I have no idea why, it may not grow down south.

The whole meal and cooking amazes me. What amazes me is your ability to bake, cook and remember to take pictures. You must have produced a cook book at some time or the other.

Beautiful scenery and cooking. Yep, I just finished my morning coffee and it still makes me hungry. THANKS (AND THE BONUS, NO CHOCOLATE!)
Love you lady! WE always enjoy the visit, Sherry will be here shortly.

Who cares if it is a roll out crust, it looks incredibly delicious! As for that wrap, what time is lunch? Now I have to go and cook something. Cause you have made me hungry.... again! The sunrise is beautiful! Maybe I should get up at the butt crack of dawn to see it for myself one day!

Oh ---I LOVE Rhubarb, Dar.... IF I were closer, I'd take some off your hands... OR--better still, I'd just 'steal' that delicious pie... ha ha ....

My mother used to make rhubarb. We'd eat it in a bowl just like applesauce. It was wonderful... Haven't had any good rhubarb since I left home about 1960 or so....

Your sweet Mama gets her exercise each day--just getting the mail, doesn't she? Love her Lupines. Such a pretty color.

Love the sky picture also... WOW!!!!
Hugs,
Betsy

Love the photos (as always) - last week-end hubs and I participated in the Lupine Junefest bike ride out of Mercer. While it was cloudy, the Lupines were magnificant. I hope to photograph some Lupines myself this week-end. If we lived closer, I'd take some rhubarb off your hands for a rhubarb crumble or maybe rhubarb torte. Thanks for sharing (the post ... all tho I'm sure the virtual rhubarb!)

I love Lupins, Dar! I cannot tell you how many times I have tried to get them to grow in my perennial bed...but they never come back. My daughter-in-law thinks it is humorous because in Maine they grow wild. I bought two more this spring...Lord willing maybe next spring they'll return. I hope so.
