Garden Help, Soup-er, GrandLoves, Ready

The grass is green, the weather is showing signs of a promising growing season, so there is plenty of prep work to do. This weekend, the lawn got mowed for the 2nd time, the edge of the garden was dug up and covered with rubber paths to keep the weeds from creeping in, bedding plants were watered and waiting for the ground during this coming week, and more firewood was split and piled.
Many good meals were consumed, including a huge kettle of homemade Beef Vegetable Egg Dumpling Soup. The littlest helper, Ben, kept asking for more beef.
This is Ben at 2 1/2 yrs. of trouble...but, cute trouble.
Ben's Big Brother Syrus, we call him Sy., who needs a haircut. He says he is his Daddy's clone because they look exactly the same at this age of 7. On this side of our family, these two have a baby brother and 8 more cousins to garden with this summer at Grandma and Grandpa's.
The first of three garden spots is ready for planting. That BIG little project starts today.
A day was spent with my sister across the river and down the road a piece as I altered a very important dress. My niece is getting married this summer. Tending to her needs that day were like doing it all over again for my own daughter. We had some emotional moments, like when she tried on the dress after alterations and her Mom put her veil on her, well for petesake, I could not look at her face. If I wasn't a puddle of emotion. Of course, we had lots of laughs too, like when I sewed both ends of the shoulder strap to the back....good grief....too much talk, not enough paying attention, or like when I stuck my finger with the needle while securing a few beads, and nearly bled on her gown. Poor girl was a freight.
Her wedding dress finally turned out lovely. She is going to be the most beautiful bride and I am 'pleased as punch' to be a part of it. I love that girly!
Thus was my weekend. Lots of family time, lots of tears and laughter, lots of memories.
I hope your weekend was as exciting.
Bless THIS week for all of you and SMILE, GOD LOVES YOU, so do I.

I still think you should have left her
dress with the double attached strap at the back...

top dress.... with a built in necklace...rofl.

WOW, what an entry, it was hard to read the rest of the entry when you put the tractor with the nice front loader on it. Here I am getting emotional over a tractor and you get all gushy over the girly stuff. If you are gonna talk about the beautiful brides, and mamas and daughters, don't put the delicious vegatable soup and great pic of the kids!

But really it is a good entry. Love it. Even it the tears ruined my monitor. LOL
TAke care and love from NC.

Your blog is excellent! Full of the stuff of life like I imagine a frontier family would be - with everyone pitching in and doing the garden, splitting and stacking fire-wood, using neat little tricks to keep the weeds out of the garden - plus sewing wedding gowns and cooking. I'm so glad Jack introduced us. Blessings on you and yours.

Hi Dar, What a great weeeknd you all had.... Weddings are emotional for sure... SO--it's understandable how you could laugh and cry almost at the same time!!!!!

Looks like you --and the grandloves --are working hard on the garden. Those two sweeties that you pictured look like they are ALL boys.... My boys were cute --and TROUBLE also. ha ha

Hope you had a good Monday also.
Hugs,
Betsy
