Tea Time

As just a 'wee' one, I think I was about 6 yrs. old, I got this lil' rose tea set for Christmas. As an adult, I found this cute cabinet to display them in.
As a young mother, they soon were passed down to my first born, Darcie. Many times throughout my daughters youth, they were carefully set at the table with her teddy bear and dolls. I often wonder if she remembers this, as she spent the majority of her time outside tending to the animals. The tea set is still in my care as her little boys are quite rambunctious. Someday soon, she will take them home with her and display them lovingly, hopefully, out of reach of anxious fingers.
I remember, there used to be a music piece under the teapot, that my twin dismantled. I don't think I forgave him for that yet. Something to consider. Maybe that's why this set still is under my care...oh...little boys just don't understand how important these things are to some little girls.
This second set was a gift to my aunt who still displays them in her buffet case. The top third of this set is a pale yellow that you can see better if enlarged. Just click on the picture to see either tea set close-up.
There is something captivating about children's tea sets. It must be all the memories that surround them...the chit-chat with little visiting toys, and imagining being someplace far away, the miniature factor or just that it's like Mommy's that I can't touch.,as a child.
Time for a spot of tea, Earl Grey perhaps...lol...with one gloved pinkie, up.

God Bless Your Weekend

Reading your post today brought back memories of when my childhood neighbor friend and I would dress up in these "fancy" dresses my mother gave us for "dress up". One was red and one was green. Then we would take our "tea set" out to my table in the yard and have a tea party! I hadn't thought about that for a long time!

Both your tea set and your aunts are beautiful. I love the little cabinet you found to display yours in. I love the design of it...especially the curves.

How Sweet the tea sets. I remember all my stuffed animals sitting around the table with me sipping our imaginary delights....

Hum, time to put on a pot of the real stuff....

I remember you serving us "younger" sisters out of that little musical pot. To this day I have a love for teas. Thanks for the memories. 'hugs & lovin'" Sis.

Again I failed to copy my comment and lost it. Sherry was reading your comment to me from PAula's blog. Now I have got to go back. Sherry informs me she fixed turtle soup once in Cuba.
Anyway, I reluctantly was a guest at my sister's tea parties a couple times. We boys are much better at dismantling, but not for meaness, just to find out how something works. ha!
Mel is in for it when she gets back. Sherry just made one of her &^$^#%#$ recipes. Choc. of course with p-nut butter. I keep telling her Choc could be a sin, I can't find it in the bible. She says yes you can, "He talks about heavenly things."
IMPOSSIBLE to beat a woman! Y'all cheat!

BEAUTIFUL TEA SETS DAR.
I HAD TWO OLDER SISTERS AND ONE YOUNGER.
NO MEMORY OF THE OLDER ONES HAVING TEA SETS. THE YOUNGER DID AND ALSO A MINIATURE WOOD BURNING KITCHEN RANGE. WE NEVER QUARRELED OR HAD DIFFERENCES.
CREDIT MY MOTHER AND HER MOTHER GRANDMA GAGE FOE TEACHING WE YOUNGEST ONES TO LOVE EACH OTHER. THE OLDER GIRLS WERE ALSO NICE AND ONE OF THE NICE MEMORIES OF THEM WAS THEIR MARKING OFF A 'PLAYHOUSE' FOR US.
USING SMALL ROCKS OUTLINED DOORS AND ROOMS TO THE PLAYHOUSE. NO STEPPING OVER WALLS, MUST WALK AROUND AND THROUGH THE DOORS.
THE GIRLS MADE CROWNS FOR US USING OAK LEAVES. THIS ON THE HOMESTEAD IN WESTERN COLORADO.
DURING SUMMER WERE LOTS OF WILDFLOWERS AND BIRDS. QUITE A LONG TIME AGO.

The tea sets are sooo pretty!

I remember having little girl tea parties in the kitchen while my mother had the church ladies over for tea in the living and dining room. We would drink cambric tea, which was warm milk with a couple spoons of sugar and a tiny splash of tea. We would also have cookies or special little sandwiches: peanut butter with banana slices on top, cut into fancy little diamonds or circles. The big ladies had even fancier sandwiches, like chicken salad and cucumber, and all sorts of yummy cookies.
I had tea parties with my own two children later and they started out the same way , with warm milk and peanut butter. And I really love having my best friend come over for tea.

I have my childhood tea set on display in my house. It looks a lot like yours, it's called Moss tea roses. I still have my dish cabinet my Dad made me for christmas the year I turned 5. Someday I will have to do a post on them.
Have a great weekend.

Tea Party
Pretty little girl what time do we have tea?
I'll bring my dolly so save some for me.

May we use your little pink dishes, and have candles on the cake to make wishes?

Curl your hair and paint your lips, hold your finger out and take small sips.

Its fun to wear gloves and act like a lady.
Isn't it nice to have this big tree to make it shady?

Someday when we're grown and around age forty, we'll remember the day we had this tea party.

I love tea sets- they remind me of my gran who loved china. As a little girl, I was given a tea set with roses on it. I do have a couple of pieces of it but it was well used and well loved and the pieces got broken unfortunately. I have two god daughters that I bought tea sets for and my dining room china cabinet is full of china including lots of cups and saucers that belonged to my grandmother.
When I see a tea set, it is hard not to buy them but somehow my 22 year son is not very interested in owning one and the China cabinet is full.
Thanks for sharing your lovely set Dar.
May your daughter long enjoy her set.
Regards,
Anna

Ever since I got my first (and only so far) granddaughter, we've played with small tea sets. They are all inexpensive ones as she learns to be careful with them. The nice bone china one I bought for her is high on a shelf in my hutch, but she knows it is hers and she can have it when the right time comes. I have no idea why we ladies love tea sets so much but it sure is fun! Thanks for sharing your pictures!
