It's cold, the beginning of a long winter.
A short drive from home and we arrive at our cabin in the woods,
where the snow has fallen, thinking it will stay,
the ice is forming on the shallow creek, only a ripple of water flows along the edge before gliding underneath unsteady footing.
I'm not fond of ' thin ' ice.
The benches and chairs, the deck, need shoveling for one last sit
to quietly watch for a bit of color,
or timid movement.
Soon the deer blind will be moved on it's skids,
onto the lake, for ice fishing~A dual-purpose shanty.
I will look forward to seeing the deer peek in the windows, wondering whether or not they will continue to be treated to bits of corn, acorns and pumpkins.
The colors of Christmas are moving in, flitting about,
in anticipation.
The Pine Grossbeak Boys are filling up for another snowfall or worse, freezing rains.
Bringing it on, seems to be a winter wish.
I'm thinking I will hibernate.
Thanks for stopping by.
And
BlessYourHeart

Beautiful. Your photos and thoughts are perfect poetry of the winter wonderland. Gorgeous!
This weather is crazy. Snow covered ground here too, but now it's supposed to get back up into the 40's. NOT complaining!!
'love & hugs from afar Sis'
Tranquility Base for the season? Sure looks to me that you could hunker down and forget the rest of the world. Enjoy your peace.
yes, your season is definitely setting in.
send the snow away please.lol.
The photo captures are very good. We southern folk love to see the pictures, don't mind an occasional snow ourselves, always hoping it is at Christmas, because of all the beautiful Christmas pictures you yankees show that look like so much fun, the sledding, skating and snow forts. But we want it warm to days later. LOL:
Love to all, hugs to Bill
Okay lovely to look at - delightful to hold - but so glad it's yours. lol
At last, somebody else with snow! Misery loves company! :-}
Beautiful snow covered scenery...love it. Sheila

I really enjoyed the post. Those pine grossbeaks are very pretty. Wish we had some.
So lovely up there. I'm enjoying the action at our bird feeders, too.
