Now, where did those little dears go?
There they are.
My 2 Grandloves that have been here often this summer, are always looking for something to do. It was forecast to rain so we decided to camp and have some camp fun.
First the tent went up in the spare bedroom where there is plenty of room. They carried their flashlights and books inside and must have read for at least half an hour. I even heard Syrus reading to Ben. They were reading short stories their Daddy wrote when he was in 4th grade. Lots of giggles.
Next, they got to use Grandpa's 2-way radios, calling and talking to each other the rest of the afternoon. Along with that bit of adventure, they had a casting contest with their fishing poles. For 3 and 8, they sure can cast well. You can tell they like to fish.
If that wasn't enough, they, of course, had lunch of mac n' cheese and hotdogs, ya know, camp food, and outside by the picnic table.
The lil Grandloves, helped fill the pool, fell in with all the excitement and that was the end of the fun. The water was ice cold and the spoils ended in a warm shower.
No S'mores, this time, cause, we finally got that rain.
The boys spent the entire day outside. Who says they just have to have cartoons to watch. There is nothing more satisfying than seeing that today's kids can still find fun in the fresh outdoor air. These two are learning the difference between a robin's song and a chickadee at an early age, every bug that they find gets researched, and the clouds even get identified. They even like learning about the flowers and the mushrooms, trees by their bark and leaf, and even a few unusual rocks. I'm proud to be a part of their lives, and wish the rest of my 11 Grandloves lived closer for more visits.
Meet the garden fun they got to name. This is Papa Gnomio looking all dapper, protecting the various Coleus. He brings us all kinds of good luck and continues to teach nature.
And this cool dude is Hopster! We just love finding him all over the gardens. You never know when he will 'hop' over your foot.
So much for today.
The week is still young.

I like to read about the fun you have with your grandloves. Mine are grown now and live away but thats how life goes sometime.

Ha! Great musings and sentiments! I agree that not all recreation has to center around the TV and the Playstation. This was one great romp for them and for grandma, too...
What a great post there is always special times to be had with your Grandchildren. You are so lucky they come for visits and you get to be a kid again. B
Dar, our Bible teacher today reminded me of your strong love for your grandloves. He talked about his great-grandson whom his parents have named Alexander, and gave us several examples of how Alexander "the great" was helping him to understand God's love.
