Besides spending valuable time with my sis Mel and niece Staci, the rest of the weekend continued to be relaxed, busy, just plain fun.
The doe way out in the middle of the field stands guard.
I couldn't see her fawn, but she/he was there, having lunch in the long grass.
Mama deer was nursing during both of these shots.
The Ruby Throated Hummingbird was even kicking back.
Butterflies were dancing all weekend, too.
This one is a White Admiral. It was so fast so forgive the blur.
Any of these pictures may be clicked on for a closer look.
I love the Eastern Tiger Swallowtail Butterfly.
The yard was full of them this weekend, so the chase was on by the GrandLoves.
The butterflies had more important things on their minds, chasing each other and gathering nectar. Maybe if I hung upside-down to eat my lunch, I'd be thin and beautiful as these gals.
Even the bees were active. This lil windmill chime is coming in for a landing. Careful, now.
There was a little ' monkey-see, monkey-do ' going on.
There were nature walks, talks, and learning the names of fern, flowers, birds, animals and their calls...this pretty common thing is a Yellow Hawkweed, minus the hawk.
Peek-a-boo!
I KNOW you still can't see me!
In spite of it being Dad's weekend, the guys still were gettin'er'done! They split and piled 11 cords of firewood in one day.
Giterdone!
And, How do YOU feed the Chickadees?
Weekends like this, never have to end.
I hope yours was as fine.
Have you all a wonderful week, now.

looks like a grand time. :) even splitting wood is fun when you have family to help!
I just love the closeness of your family...cute bird feeder in the last photo:)
A beautiful way to spend the weekend:)
It would have been a cool picture if you had captured a chickadee on your GrandLove's head! I like your bee wind chime. I have a few wind chimes hanging in our picnic pavilion. I love the melodious sound that the wind chimes make. Your butterfly pictures are pretty!
That sounds like a perfect weekend. I'm glad that you and your family enjoyed yourself together.
Beautiful butterfly pictures. Maybe we should try eating upside down too. When Mel was alive we usually spent holidays working and loved it.
Beautiful photos of the "flutterflies"! We get one or two floating by from time to time, really wish we had more. And I love the story of your father and the boat below. Great photos of him!
Zat Sy's head, the feeder?
Love the entry again. I do appreciate the openness of the land there and the abundant wild life. It all shows up (Until hunting season!)
Wow and what a lot fo cuttin and splittin'. You guys work and play hard. Love the black and white butter fly, no matter what you call it.
it is also wonderful that you guys know enough to teach the proper names for all the flora and fawna.
We are out of the mountain until tomorrow. Probably the flat lands until after the fourth holidays. Not a great time for us on-the - road types.
Looks like a terrific time for everyone, critters included.
It sure looked like you had a great weekend. I loved the picture of the little chipmunk. and the hummingbird looked bigger then what it probably was!
Thanks for sharing but i have to say no.... we did not have a weekend as fine as yours, but maybe next week???
