Fantastic Weekend

What a fantastic weekend we had, visiting my daughter Darcie, and her family. As we pulled in, she was finishing up her evening chores, the kids were playing in the yard full of snow, and hubby was on his way home from work.
Don't you love this barn? No, it is not hers, but I'll bet she wishes it was. Maybe that's the kind they will build someday. For now, they have temporary shelters,, which the horses do not even use. They'd much rather stand out in the wind, her two Arabians and 3 others that she boards., making for a busy place.
That pitch fork fits her hands just perfect, as she loads up a tarp with hay and carries it to the feed bins. It's safer than pushing a wheelborrow full of hay and sliding in the muck during spring break-up.
You go girly, git-er-done! She's sure sporting a pretty good mane of her own, don't you think. I love her hair.
She's introducing her hay bag to the new boarder. She didn't even flinch. Darcie sure takes good care of those horses, her first 'love,' since she was 10. When she got her first horse, by accident, (another story), I told Bill that it would last either 2 weeks, or her lifetime. She's now an equestrian photographer, by trade, and still has horses.
We spent an afternoon poking around a couple of thrift stores just for fun. One had your typical household items, clothing and smaller furniture pieces. I will show more of these in another post...
but, here's a taste. Darcie fell in love with this little chair. And wait until you see what Bill found for me.
Then we peeked into the Building center of Re-Use items. Now, that was an interesting place. If only, if only~~~~
Christopher and Austin were having fun with this gorgeous solid door. Another post, maybe tomorrow? I guarantee you will love this door. They are just hard to find, these days. We have some measuring to do.

On our way home, we took another route, and happened upon this hope of spring. It's just about Syrupin' Season. Cannot wait to smell it cooking.
We also found an addition for our cabin. This would work perfect for our Girl Quarters, during hunting season.
This is just a peek at the barn tour. I love this one too.
We saw many silos, Harvestore's like this one, is paid for. You can tell a paid-in-full Harvestore Silo by the American flag flying on it's side.
And some, were not yet paid for.
We were getting closer to home, where more snow flew in our absence. We know we are getting closer because we just passed the Concrete Park,
the Flambeau River dam on south of town,
and, of course, the sure sign that all is going well at the mill, and that we are home, is seeing the smoke coming out of the smokepipe at the steam plant.
More to come, but for now, I have a Grandlove Ben, to take outside and play in the last of the wet, wet snow...and jump a few puddles. Maybe we will even stamp in a few of them. Ha!

Thanks for traveling with me. It was fun!

I know the feeling ~ it's fun to visit and all but in the end ... It's still good to be home too.

So did Darcie buy that little chair? AND where would you go with that old door if you had it?

Did you know that it's just a myth about getting a flag for your silo when you get it paid off. Do a google search on it ... you can purchase the flags when you order one for an additional cost, or sometimes they have promo's when they sell them and will put the flag decal on for free. It has nothing to do with them being paid in full or not. Just thought I'd let you know.

Neat that your daughter gets to do what she loves with horses. I wish all people could do that... :)

Sounds like you had a nice time with your daughter.

I like stopping at the Hope Gospel Mission too. Tuesdays they have half off on select items. I've come home with some real treasures.

Dar, thank you for the dee-lightful tour to your daughter's. How wonderful that she has horses and all and yes, I too, like that mane of hair. You obviously had a wonderful time in the store checking out all the bargains too. Plus a Nice addition for the cabin! Then, getting home safe, and having the grandchild to romp and stomp with... you (as we say down here) have got it made in the shade! ☺

Hey Girl, thanks for the tour, yeah it was great I love horses, Darcie must to handle that weather and care for the stock.

I love it when I can actually relate to landscape photo's. I recognized several around Park Falls. Oh thanks for the tour. Good photos and YES I love that BArn. I know molasses is different from your syruping, but I remember molasses from my child hood, wonderful memories.

Love the entry Dar, you are a cutie. Hug Bill for us. and Rest our love. We think of you guys a lot.

What a lovely tour and introduction to your daughter. I understand her love for horses, I only became horseless a few years ago. It is a lifetime addiction.
That "girls quarters" cabin was really cute.
