his Uncle Eric's sled dog, Nikki, behind the dog sled that his Grandpa made. It was a pretty eventful day for him. It's too bad that the sled dog races in town ended. It always drew quite a crowd and gave us northerners an outing in the winter snow. Those were exciting days.
Here Dusty is this past summer, in front of his new Northern Archery shop with his family, during the beginning of materializing a dream. They are as busy as ever with the archery leagues in competition for the winter months, which is run by his brother Stac. Dusty is busy with his tooling business all across the country. Are we proud? Yes!
As busy as what my son is, he still calls me at least 3 times a week, ' just to talk, ' and comes home once a week, even though he lives 2 hrs. away. We must have done something right.
Their subs look good but there is nothing finer than homemade lasagna
and garlic bread. And Yes, I'm finally feeling better as in ' no more flu.'
I have been keeping busy with cleaning another corner here and there, and look what I found. Somewhere, my knitting needles had disappeared, so I bought new ones, the ones still in the packet. That's what I get for getting lazy with my knitting and crocheting. So, of course, with all these tools of the trade handy, there are so many balls of yarn waiting to become ' something ' useful. I love these twirly, swirly, spiral scarves. They are fun and fast to make. Both of these were done in one evening, all to keep my joints from freezing up again.
These little chenille Teddies needed their ears sewed on and bows tied. My favorite parts of them are their cute little faces and their ' oh so soft ' and hugable chenille bodies. I started making baby caps again. No pattern, just imaginative guess-work. Back in '03 while recovering from my back surgery, I made and donated 40 of these to the local and neighboring hospitals, for the newborns and sick children. It was a hot summer and these tiny caps didn't add any more heat to me, on top of that miserable brace that I wore for 4 months. It's amazing, how all of my own pain was diminished just giving these for a needy cause, and it was fun besides.
This soft as a cottonball, baby dress/tunic, was most fun to make. Don't ask for the pattern, as it was just made up as I went along. It's a gift for my great niece, ' just because.'
Remember that first picture of my son showing off his award? I found the sweater he was wearing. It looks just about as good today as 28 years ago. With a fresh washing, it will be worn again by his nephew. Some favorites just never wear out. I'm tickled pink. I remember knitting that sweater like it was yesterday, but most importantly, I remember the smile across Dusty's face when I first put it on him. He said, " It's a keeper, Mom and really warm too! " Nothing makes me happier than to make someone genuinely happy with a homemade item.
You can always tell, if they really mean it, in the smile in their eyes and the tone of their response. I never take offense if an item is not fondly received. After all, not everyone has the same tastes as I.

Love your knitting adventures! Your son's comment about the sweater is so sweet! Happy Birthday to him! So glad that your flu is getting better.
How sweet is that! I love how you have used your gifts and talents to share with so many. Glad you are feeling better!
There is no limit to your talents is there? I know it is not just the 'snowed in' time, but talent that is used. What a great time to remember, earned kid's awards. Wow, and still have the sweater? Amazing. the Archery Range is a great place. We were amazed at the different Targets and options in the building.

Happy Birthday, Dustin... I have a son who is 39... Cute picture of him when he was 10. I know you are proud of him and his accomplishments.
AND--what did you do (that I obviously didn't do) to get him to call at least 3 times a week and come home once a week???? WOW--what a great son. None of my 3 do that!!!! Sigh!
Glad you found your knitting and crocheting needles.... Those little caps are precious...
YUM on the lasagna...
Hugs,
Betsy
P.S. Glad you are feeling better.
Being the baby of 10 kids I never learned to embroidery, knit or crochet. My sisters new but they were already away by the time I was interested in that. Plus being left handed as far as being taught didn't help either. Love the looks of yours.
Enjoyed your post...thanks for stopping by to visit my blog...and for following...happy you're feeling better! The Melanzane in Teglia is delicious..just be aware of the saltiness of those lovely black olives! *smile*
Dar, what a happy post! You are talented in so many areas...I believe you could do anything you set your mind to do. Crocheting is not my thing. It brings back memories of the summer of my 13th year, staying with my grandparents at Olustee, FL. Grandmother had me to make a doily about 6 inches in diameter which my wife seems proud of and keeps safely put away. It was a boring summer because that town was as small then as it is now. I'm HAPPY to be on this side of that experience. ☻
Happy Birthday to Dusty! Glad you are feeling better. You are very talented, loved everything, but especially the bear, I can imagine how soft it is. The scarfs are cute too. Thanks for stopping by my blog and hope you'll come back.
Stay warm, Sheila
Glad you are feeling better. You make such beautiful things. The scarves are very nice.
Happy birthday to your son, Dusty! Wonderful series of photos and your crocheting looks lovely. I wish I had this talent. I am happy to see you are feeling better.
You were great knitting and donating the hats. I have not seen these curly scarfs here,
Glad you are feeling better Mom. When I saw the title on this one, I thought you were going to put up a picture of a certain someone in a certain Red Dress! LMBO!!!
All kidding aside, we love the crocheted items. :) My slippers always keep the toes warm. Speaking of, Christopher has worn holes in his again. Time for some more Gramma Sliders!
Love ya,
Darcie
