Shadow Dancing and The Round Table

While making a fresh pot of morning coffee, my view out the window was this early sunrise shadow of one of my wagon wheels on the side of the barn. Immediately, I thought about my brother and a bunch of his friends who meet at the local gas stations coffee table to 'chew the fat,' several mornings a week. They all call it 'The Round Table'. I'm sure he does not tell all they 'chew' about, but some of the conversation is about solving the worlds problems, fixing some broken down tractor, jokes, of course, the going price of pulp, lumber and hardwood logs, what kind of chicken is best for meat and eggs, and whether or not we will have another drought year.
Some of these guys are truckers, some farmers, loggers, industrial workers, some independent small business operators, some just plain interested in what's going down at The Round Table. I guess you would compare these fellas to the gals at the beauty shop or girls night out. Either way, the visiting gets done, the problems solved, some of them anyway, the jokes memorized for the day, the broken equipment fixed , whether or not to sell the logs just yet, and Rhode Island Reds or Plymouth Rocks and whether or not they should start rain dancing.
So goes at my house and at The Round Table...
What do your shadows remind you of???
BlessYa'll

LOL! Yes, those men need to talk to their friends as much as the women do. For my husband it is when he meets up with his tennis buddies court side, and when they gather afterwards at the bar for a beer. When he tells me he is off to play tennis and will be back by 7, I always know to add about 2 hours and expect him around 9. They will either be celebrating a win, or grumbling over a loss and complaining about their aches and pains. :-)

What a great photo! My favorite shadows are the long ones that walk across my front lawn right around sunset in the summer time.

my good friend Tuck, is one of those who must meet with friends every morning before work. It is a past time he has continued into retirement. I never did that. Sometimes I wish I had. If I was up early I went to work early, Just me. The guys have a great time. We went into a little cafe in Park City, KY. They had a name on the big table, "LIARS TABLE".
gLAD YOU PUT THE PIC OF THE IRON WHEEL ON.

Cute post, Dar. It reminds me of the little group of men who are always shooting the bull in the little Shell Service Station and Deli near here.. They probably call themselves the Round Table also--since I'm sure they solve all of the world's problems each morning!!!!!

Hugs,
Betsy

I have a wagon wheel like that but I didn't hang it since the fence belongs to the neighbor. Mine is leaning.John keeps trying to claim it and I moved that thing all the way from San Antonio all by myself.

Okay...so which one of is moving? You to WV? Me to Wisconsin? Honestly, Dar, when two people have as much in common as we do there surely needs to be some serious communication going on here. :) Thank you for that precious, precious note you left me today! I cried, too, when I read about your parents. Did Mel have a safe trip South? You know...if you ever want to write to me anytime my e-mail is at the bottom of my blog page.

Dar, I had a lovely visit! I loved learning about your childhood with the sheep! And the photo of the swan at the bottom of the page is exquisite! Thanks for the link for keeping the amaryllises over! This has been Lady Jane's third blooming season, but I have been doing it all by guess and by gosh, so instructions would be great! I think flower shadows are my favourites.
