Numb is Heavy

Alright, already!
So is this what it's like to feel heavy like a rock?~helpless?
I will not be sitting in any chair for any length of time for awhile.  It's just too danged uncomfortable.  The nerves or discs are outa whack again and making life feel a lot out of sorts.  That rock in the ToddlerGrands swing just about shows how it feels to ' not feel.'  Maybe that's what traction is supposed to feel like...stretching the rope til it snaps...the only thing is, would I even know it?  There is so much that is so numb, it doesn't make any sense to think it's going to go away on it's own.  Kind of like that rock, it can hardly move itself out of the swing,  someone or something has to make the initiative to assist.  I, in reference, cannot feel myself from the waist down tonight.  Ok, ok, I ' do ' need to address this, find an option.  It cannot go on much longer.  I already do not trust myself ....  thank God for cruise control and visuals.  Maybe tomorrow will be better...it's the ' walk in the lake, day.'  I think I will wet a line and catch supper.  Positive thinking, when all else fails, right?

Have a wonderful day until I get out of this funk.

Awww, Peace, Quiet, do you hear it?
It has been another busy week.
I am in need of a restful moment.
Besides moving furniture around, rebuilding a reading/craft area for the GrandLoves,
I finally also moved an antique/re-purpose dresser into 'my space' just for me.

No matter how often I make notes to myself to 'finally' organize my photos and clean-up some room on my PC for more, something  interferes  every time, usually this bod.  Besides, not being able to stay at it, leg so numb, hip screaming, oh...
let's just not go there.

Bill is my 'constant.'  Thank God for him.
He, at least, has been able to enjoy his retirement.  We start each day with coffee and breakfast together, made by him.  Thanks Babe!
He then goes off to his 'happy place,' making working with his saw, tractor, dump trailer.  He fixes things.  Always fixing things.

Just this morning, as we look out the window and see that the pool has collapsed, again,  he says,
"Maybe we can 'fix' that."  The patches did not hold, the seams are bad, so I say, "Honey, that pool has seen it's day.  It's 5 yrs. old already and it has provided summers of fun.  How bout we just call it good and get another one?"  To my amazement, he agreed.  I think he has plans for the heavy plastic, I could tell by the gleam in his eyes.

This morning, his brother calls so Bill's off to the sawmill he and his brother built, to  cut another load of lumber.  I asked what his plans are for all that lumber.  He is going to build a new storage building to replace what was blown away in a storm last fall.  I'm so glad he knows how to do these things.
Note to self: find and show my faithful blog readers the sawmill....it's quite the operation.

Now, back to mundane housework, then a bit more photo cleansing, pull some onions, cut some chard, weed.  Where does the day go?

Have a great week.
I hope to walk in water again tomorrow,
and visit our son and his family at the campground.  Oh, more photo opportunity awaits.

South, West, North, East, South....

The guys were busy putting the fun and
 The work away, when
The rain clouds started to roll in from the northwest,
and the wind started to swirl, moving things suspiciously around,
the flag blew straight south, then west, then north, then east,
The clouds began to get darker and darker, moving quickly
with so much more of that suspicious swirling, like a tornado brewing somewhere, ..... we did not hear of any...
finally it started to sprinkle, but just a little...
enough for Mr. Frog to take a quick bath in the droplets, but not enough to submerge,  or do any swim to the other side of the lawn,
the sprinkling stopped and the sky warned as it yellowed....
when finally, the clouds burst and rain fell, hard, straight down rains to water the dry earth,  waning the flags flow...
The rains did not last long, not even an eighth of an inch fell.  The sky, however, still warned of more to come, so very yellow until 10 p.m.  Isn't it supposed to be dark by then?
There was no more rain for the night, no more threats of strong storms past 2 a.m., sleep was wonderful with the windows wide open and temperatures in the 60's.  The storm cooled the air so much that it was almost shocking to the system.  I will take that type of shock anytime.  The heat index had been as high as 105 F. and we in north central Wisconsin, simply are not used to it.  I am so grateful for the cooler day.  Now, I have to get outside and enjoy it.

Believe It or Not?

It was such a hot, sultry day, and we needed to cool off.   We decided to do just that at a nearby lake that was calling our names.
As Bill and I waded chest high in a ' warm ' spring-fed lake while the GrandGirls and Guys and their Dads  were splashing a distance from us, we shared stories of this water and how we both learned to swim jumping off the same raft in the over-our-heads, water.

I wasn't doing anything to attract attention.....or was I?
I was waving my hands back and forth in the water as we visited, when I felt weight against my arm enough to make me glance down.  I was not startled, thinking it was one of the kids playing a trick on me, so imagine my surprise when I saw a fish~~~a nice  bass brushed against the outside of my left arm, then circled around it going between my downward, outstretched arm and my body,  then leaving the direction he had been coming from...

It was big, heavy and had every intention of having my fingers for lunch.  You see, I had painted my fingernails red, white and blue to celebrate the day with the Grands.  That fish must have thought my fingers were fishing lures, like the red and white striped spinner.

Just imagine if I had caught him with my bare hands.  Now That would really have been something...soooo

Is this just a ' fish story ' of exaggeration?
Or, the ' truth?'

It's the ' TRUTH '
What a very cool experience.  I do wish I could have caught him. I would have practiced C-P-R (catch-photograph-release)
What excitement!!!

Thanks for stopping by and sharing my rare experience.

Cool It

It has been Soooo Hot, then add the humidity and we are searching for any possible way to stay cool.  Bill has been getting the splash pool ready for anyone who desires a dip,
and I have been looking for any shady spot I can find...hmmm, the house is pretty shady and the AC feels downright...well...right!  No matter the summer heat, it always seems cooler under the ol' Basswood tree at the farm, and the view is nice too.   There's a deer in the middle of the trail, waaaaaaaaay out in the field, just right of the Chestnut tree beyond the fence.  Maybe you can pick her out.  You'll see.
How about a ride around the lake in the party barge/pontoon?
                                             Splashdown!!!
Awww, looks so great but I will wait til we get ashore......
This sweet couple sure reminded me of ' On Golden Pond ' out for an afternoon cruise along the shoreline to watch the Bald Eagles.
We stopped to check out a ' no motor ' fishing hole...looks good.
The Bald Eagles were even hot., panting to cool themselves.  Too hot to fly today.  We watched them for the longest time.  They stayed in their look-out tree for over an hour, only one flying finally, maybe to Lake of the Pines to fish.
Click any photo for a closer look.  You can see the Bald Eagle is definitely ' hot,' just like the rest of us.   Take a look at those talons.  No wonder they are such good fishermen/fisherbirds of prey.  Only once have I seen one catch a fish.  Amazing!
I wonder if there was the slightest breeze way up top in the fire tower.  We used to climb that tower when we were kids, but it's bottom steps have been removed for safety-sake.  No way would I attempt it anyway, on such a hot day.
See, I wasn't kidding about the deer.  She was at least 200 yds. away, watching me watching her.  She kept looking to the east.  My guess,  she had her fawn lying there.
Beat the heat, is the name of the game.  Nothing strenuous.  Walking out into the lake took a real tow on my back and leg again,  so sitting to watch an amazing sunset over the barn, was more my speed in the intense heat of the evening.  So pretty.
And then that glorious moon rose soft in the night sky, casting rays through the humid air.   Sitting on the deck late actually was pretty relaxing~~~not a bug, just a gentle breeze and moonstruck.
So many of you have such greater numbers of heat than here, but we are just not used to it.  Then add the humid, stagnant air and
geeeeeez.  We need a reprieve from it all.  Maybe a prayer for rain, more cooling rains.  Until then, stay cool.  Stay Cool.
